Het beste nummer van Jr Walker en zijn All Stars is met enige voorsprong Way Back Home, de versie met zang. Junior Walker had in de jaren zestig een paar gigantische hits met nummers als Roadrunner en Shotgun, maar dat zijn toch vooral lekkere felle feestnummers. Op Way Back Home kan ook gedanst worden, en Walker speelt ook hier weer prachtig rauw op zijn saxofoon, maar het is vooral ook de zang die door merg en been gaat. Heimwee en ellende gaan hand in hand. Jr Walker speelt saxofoon en zingt, zijn band bestaat uit een toetsenist, bassist en drummer, en ze hadden hun grootste hits bij Motown. Rhythm and blues of soul, het was in ieder geval buitengewoon funky muziek, die nog steeds geweldig klinkt, en absoluut niet gedateerd.
