In onze serie kippevelliedjes dit keer een onverwachte hit uit de jaren zestig. Eerlijk gezegd had ik nooit echt naar de tekst van dit huppelende popdeuntje geluisterd. De hit van Tony Orlando en Dawn bevat bovendien een buitengewoon vervelend meidenkoortje dat het nummer behoorlijk banaal maakte. En dat het stomme melodietje zo makkelijk in je hoofd bleef hangen hielp ook niet echt. Maar toen hoorde ik het van een anonieme straatzanger, ergens in een grote stad. Die zong het sober en kaal, en ineens hoorde ik daardoor ook de tekst. En toen was het ineens een kippevelliedje. Dus vertel mij niet dat de uitvoering er niet zoveel toe doet…
