When I was little - Deborah
Maris Leder
When I was little
I used to think I could fall asleep
with my arm straight up in the air
balancing there
When I was little
I used to wake up 'cause my arm would fall
and hit me in the face
when I was little
(chorus)
'Cause I was born on my birthday
And I don't care what they say
And I can draw water with paint
And I know everything there is to know
and I canb be an Indian in my canoe made of Play Doh
When I was little
I'd wear the neighbour girl's dresses
when she outgrew them
but they always looked better on her.
And I never did like dresses.
When I was little
I wanted to go to night school
so I could be a knight
and ride to school on my horse
When I was little
I used to think there were two Pacific Oceans
it said so on the map
But on the globe there was only one Pacific Ocean
When I was little
I can be anybody faces lifted with Silly Putty
I can draw a picture of a bad dream
to make it go away
when it follows me
When I was big
I used to watch my baby sleep
with his arm straight up in the air
balancing there
'Cause he was born on his birthday
and he don't care what I say
and he can paint rivers with rain
And he knows everything there is to know
and he can be a knight on his horse made of Play Doh.
